Russell Miller: Flyer Punches Teen For Not Turning Off iPhone

68-year-old Russell Miller doesn’t put up with any crap. Miller was on a flight from Las Vegas, Nevada to Boise, Idaho when he lost control. Miller decided to settle an in-flight dispute himself when he punched a teenager.

Just what got Miller so heated? A 15-year-old passenger could not put down his iPhone when the plane was about to land. The teenager ignored flight attendant’s announcement to turn off electronic devices. He continued playing games and listening to music on his iPhone, despite the order. The teen was flying alone when he encountered Miller.

Miller punched the teen hard in the arm. Police Lieutenant Kent Lipple reported that Miller had even left a mark on the teen’s arm, with witnesses on the plane confirming how hard the teen was hit. Lipple, with several other officers, were among the first to arrive on the scene. They arrested Miller, who remains in a Boise Jail.

Miller told police that he was “protecting the entire plane and its occupants.” However, the crew was not so appreciative, ultimately condemning Miller’s actions. Miller has been charged with misdemeanor battery. On a New York Daily News poll, the majority of responders applauded Miller’s actions for enforcing plane protocol.
