Pedro Ramirez: Fresno State Student Body President Is An undocumented immigrant – It has recently been discovered that the student body president of Fresno State University is an undocumented immigrant. This new information which recently broke into the news has triggered a debate that is stirring up quite a bit of controversy not just with the school but across the country as well. Pedro Ramirez says that he was ashamed to admit that he is in fact an undocumented immigrant and lied his way into becoming student body president. He claims that the reason he did not reveal his immigration status sooner is because he said he was afraid of the consequences of he did come forward with the truth.
Ramirez’s classmates and teachers did not know about the student body president’s immigration status, but when an article in the State newspaper titled the “Collegian” was published, that information became public knowledge. Ramirez said that he feels relieved that everyone finally knows about his immigration status and that he is looking forward to having everyone know the truth once and for all. As of it right now it is somewhat unclear what will happen to Ramirez and his position as student body president, though many speculate he will be stripped of this title for lying.

Wow! I feel for Pedro. I am not an illegal but I am of Mexican American heritage and know the feeling of being not so much open of the legal status of a family member. He seems like a smart boy and was chosen for a reason. He should keep doing his work and citizenship status should not get in the way!
He is an “Illegal Alien”! He should be removed from his position as president & deported immediately!
He is getting financial aid that should go to a “Legal” deserving student, not an “Illegal Alien” who has deceived & lied. He is a liar & a criminal. The students of Fresno State deserve a president who has integrity & is a legal citizen.
Remove him from office & school. Than deport him & the rest of his “Illegal” family!
It’s pretty sad that this guy can have his name and photo in the press while he admits that he’s an illegal alien and he still hasn’t been arrested or deported.
Has ICE even contacted him?
When the law isn’t upheld, that’s corruption.
As embarrassing as this may be for the guy, he has to step down since there are some rules that must follow at the university. I’m a Colombian-American that went thru the immigration process which was long and humiliating but did it thru the proper channels AKA the standard painful process of legalization but that made me appreciate my citizenship a lot more once I got it 10yrs+ after immigrating to the US. I love this great nation and call it my own.
That being said Pedro is NOT a US Citizen, he is a citizen of whatever country he immigrated from therefore he should not be entitled to any benefit/privilege that is granted solely to Americans. By law he is not permitted to participate on any of those benefits/privileges.
Another side of the coin is that when my visa expired while being a student in college, I NEVER qualified nor wanted any government assistance to help me with school, I had to work the crappiest Jobs ever to pay for my own OUT-OF-STATE tuition “Which is 2 times the cost for US/Legal Citizens” and made it. Many years later I legalized my situation.
So coming from a fellow immigrant that believes I due process, is not right for Pedro to be entitle to any US benefits since he’s NOT an American yet.
Once question i throw out there to the fellow Hispanics complaining that Pedro should remain and have federal tax payers money paying for his tuition, etc: Will any of the Latin-American countries allow us to immigrate to their country and get free education, food, lodging for not only you but your entire “Illegal family”? The Answer is “NO”. Name the Latin-American country that will allow this?
What say you?
