Terrelle Pryor Suspended

At 21 years old, Terelle Pryor commands the Ohio State Buckeyes as a quarterback. He was one of the most sought after high school athletes ever to come out of Southwestern Pennsylvania. However, Pryor has run into a few problems.

Pryor has been suspended for the first five games of the 2011 season. Four other players also share Pryor’s fate, but, without a doubt, Pryor is the biggest name involved. He, as well as the others, violated the NCAA’s preferential treatment bylaws.

Specifically, Pryor sold his 2008 Big Ten championship ring, a 2009 Fiesta Bowl sportsmanship award, and his Gold Pants. The Gold Pants were a gift given to him from the university.

What does this mean for Pryor? Pryor could enter the NFL draft next year and probably go as a first round pick. If he waits, it is more likely he will go later. This means he will likely be picked up by a team with an already established quarterback.

Pryor going into the draft has been met with some criticism by college football’s scouting community. Many have found flaws in Pryor’s mechanics, reads, and timing. Not to mention, selling items that do not belong to him may limit his draft prospects further, as his character now comes into question.
