An American of 13 years of age named Jordan Romero became the youngest climber to make it to the summit of Everest at 29,035 feet above sea level on Saturday.
When Jordan was just 10 years old he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and at 11 years old he reached on the top of Mount McKinley in Alaska and Aconcagua in Argentina, the highest mountain on the American continents.
The Adolescent who is originally from from Big Bear Lake, 125 km west of Los Angeles, is the youngest climber in history to conquer the highest peak in the world a dream which began after he saw a poster of Mount Everest at school when he was nine years old.
Jordan prepared during an entire year at this perilous expedition climbing the mountains of his native California, with his heavy bag-to-back and a tent designed to simulate the effects of altitude.
Until now a 16 year old Nepalese who goes by the name of Temba Tsheri, held the record for the youngest mountaineer to have climbed Everest.
Allowing a 13 year old to embark on an adventure that took the lives of so many adults is seen by some observers as careless.
